MAISON BEIGE - An Ethical Clothing Brand Pricing Policy
An an ethical brand, our clothes come with a certain price tag. We made the decision to reduce our margins to offer a reasonable price for our customers.
As we make efforts in being sustainable, we want to be transparent and to educate our clients on our pricing policy.
HOW MUCH DOES ETHICAL FASHION COST?
Where do we manufacture?
The main cost is the human cost: if you pay cheap for a garment, you know someone around the globe is not getting payed enough.
At MAISON BEIGE we want to contribute to reducing poverty in the fashion industry workforce. This is why we chose our workshop carefully, it is located in Casablanca, in Morocco where we can visit on a regular basis and make sure that employees have the best working conditions. We requested to audit workers salaries, and we made sure that everyone was payed more than the minimum wage.
What fabric do we use?
At MAISON BEIGE we use end of fabric rolls for the following reasons:
- To avoid waste and overproduction and limit our impact on the environment.
- To have access to nice fabric (linen, silk, cotton, wool and haute couture dead stock)
- Our pieces are limited editions: Using dead stock fabric dictates the quantities that we produce.
How do we build our prices?
At MAISON BEIGE, we want to offer ethical and sustainable fashion, but we also want to keep a reasonable price range, we have decided to reduce our margins and explain how our prices are computed: you will notice in the following graphs that our cost is mainly covering the workshop and the fabric as these two are the defining elements of our brand.
Our margin is used to cover taxes, administrative fees and to finance our next collection.
